The incredible team of mentors and young people from Build It , an initiative by London Youth, started the work at No 6 Somerleyton Road on the 21st October 2013.  Within just a couple of days they’ve started to transform the space. Over 50 people turned up to a walk in session at No. 6 Somerleyton Road last night to get on what the short-term, or ‘meanwhile’, use of this space could be.  The former meals-on-wheels kitchen is set for demolition as part of the long-term regeneration plans for the area, but we estimate we have about 18 months before this happens. Hundreds of people joined us for our Walk & Talk event on a beautiful day on Thursday 18th July. There was loads on: Solo 1 from Postive Art created fantastic street art. Red Peas made a gorgeous free BBQ. Opus Cafe had trolleys going up and down the road giving out watermelon and fruit punch. Blockworkout showed why they’re so inspiring. Cllr Jackie Meldrum, Cllr Matt Parr, Mary Jo Hoyne (Lambeth College) visited the Westminster Kingsway catering and hospitality college this week. Westminster Kingsway is viewed as the best catering college in the UK, graduates include Jamie Oliver and many of London’s top chefs.

This weekend the St Matthew’s Peace Gardens were taken over by a fantastic community festival organized by Maria Santos.
